These textures weren't improved for the LE, which means there were blocky shadows everywhere.
This includes improvements specifically for ALOT's Improved Static Lightning (ISL)-which was completely remade-'and vastly improved upon for the LE.' Apparently, much of the lightning and shadows players will see in-game are pre-rendered and stored as textures.
So, in order for players to get the best overall textures, ALOT was ported to the LE to get the best of both worlds.
